About

The Marías are the Grammy-nominated psychedelic-soul creation of Puerto Rican-bred, Atlanta-raised María Zardoya and Los Angeles native Josh Conway. Joined by their closest friends, Jesse Perlman on guitar and Edward James on keys, the band’s undeniable musical chemistry shines through in their seamless blend of jazz percussion, hypnotic guitar riffs, smoke-velvet vocals, and nostalgic horn solos. Their dreamlike fusion of jazz, psychedelia, funk, and lounge carries an irresistible sensuality. Since the release of their debut album, Cinema, The Marías have earned widespread acclaim, including two Grammy nominations, a Billboard chart-topper, and collaborations with major names in Latin music such as Bad Bunny and Tainy.

Now, the band embarks on the next phase of their journey with the release of their sophomore album, Submarine. Returning to the psychedelic indie rock roots that defined their breakout EP, Superclean, Submarine evokes a sense of nostalgia—a feeling that, while familiar, has evolved in its landscape. The lead single, “Run Your Mouth,” introduces fans and new listeners to this immersive world, amassing over one million streams in its first week of release. The cinematic flourishes of their debut have been replaced by a sonically matured return to form, creating what Josh describes as the “bookend to their trilogy.” María’s trance-like vocals guide listeners to a place of solitude and introspection, crafting an experience both personal and expansive.

In their live performances, The Marías are joined by Gabe Steiner on trumpet and Doron Zounes on bass. The meticulous detail that defines their cinematic style off-stage comes to life in their shows, with striking visuals that beautifully complement their dreamlike music. The result is an undeniably unique and transportive experience that leaves audiences captivated.
